The county fair

I love going to the county fair. When Nora was just a few weeks old we took her to the fair. Last year, we missed it as we were in CA. So, this year, it was on!

Nora had a ton of fun. She loved looking at all the animals. She sure did poop out though. We thought she would fall asleep in the truck on the way home, but she didn't. Then, we thought she would fall asleep if all of us laid down in our room. That sure didn't work. She watched Sesame Street, Sean slept and I got stepped all over while trying to do a suduko puzzle. Finally, around 6:30, after she had stepped on my belly one too many times, we put her in time out in her bedroom. A few minutes later, Sean went in to get her and came out and said he thought she was pretending to sleep. I walk in there. Um, no, she's passed out. I knew my little girl was tired.

Here are a few pictures of the day:
This is her I eat ketchup photo - Nora enjoyed the fair food - a real treat for her to eat such crap (said in the most affectionate of ways, who doesn't like fair food!?!).

Yay for ducks that say "quack, quack":

HUGE pumpkins:

And finally, an odd looking pumpkin, and yes, apparently you do get a first place ribbon for such an odd looking thing:

So, we're all stocked up on rulers, pens and pencils for the next year. My score of the day was a pencil sharpener, since apparently, I don't have one of those at home - but have tons of unsharpened pencils. Sean was very thankful for the stroller. He remarked more than once how nice it was to have a basket to put all the crap. And cup holders to put our drinks. I know, I know - I have no idea what I'll do when we're out of the stroller phase. It's definitely a great thing to have when you go to the mall - where else are you to put coats in the winter and shopping bags?

A big project

LOL, I guess one could call it that. It'll likely weigh in at just under 8 pounds when all is said and done. Yep, eight. That's about the average size baby these days.

So, yeah, I'm pregnant (and I think everyone reading this knows that, as it's not like I have a bunch of followers) and due in about five weeks.

Nesting has ensued.

Now if only we could decide on two names for our little surprise.

The Cake

Not too bad, considering my feet were aching. Being 35 weeks pregnant was brutal on my poor feet today. And clearly, the "Y" in birthday is hidden by the sax carrying Sesame Street character.

mmmmm, cake

Nora's bday is tomorrow and we are having ice cream and cake later today. I meant to make the cake last night but ended up too tired and went to bed....so I'm making it today. Hopefully, it'll chill quick.

In the meantime, my house smells of wonderful cake. Yummy.

And, in case you're wondering, I ended up deciding to do a Sesame Street cake. I bought figurines for the top....so, I totally cheated. I thought about buying an Elmo or Dora cake pan (favorites of Nora), but I could not imagine making that many darn stars while standing and being 35 weeks pregnant. So, I took the lazy way out and will instead just have to frost the two layers of cake, do a border and throw those figurines on top.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I'm done.

I should also have pictures of our Florida room. The room is so awkward, it always ends up being a catch all room. We've spent the last few days reorganizing back there and it's taking shape. We've put up some more shelves that will at least keep the catch all stuff off of the floor. Plus, one shelf, just for kitchen items. When you have a tiny kitchen and no pantry, it's hard to figure out what to do with all the big appliances - the kitchen aid mixer, the crock pot, the ice cream maker, the blenders (yes, I have two - one that is only for salsa, thank you very much), the coffee pot, etc. I'm really pleased with how it's looking so far.

We are going to paint it, as right now it's just white, we've never painted the room before and we've lived here seven years now, lol. So, we have two gallons of some green paint and I think it's going to be that color (they were on clearance for $3 a gallon). That will come later though - for now, I'll just post the organized room. :)

I'm avoiding blogging....

Because I've been avoided sewing, or crafting. I've been pulling weeds though. I guess I could upload a picture or two of our garden. The weeds are out of control this year - I weed nearly daily for half an hour, S does as well and yet....they keep on coming. One corner holds its own weed free fairly well, but the other areas, it's like overnight.

I really, really need to begin sewing again. I went down to the basement a few weeks ago, but just could not get the inspiration. I've done some mending, just nothing creative. Need to get creative.

Perhaps posting here will keep me accountable towards doing something this week that is creative - we'll see. :)

Well, I've been tagged

I know it's been forever since I posted here, but I was tagged to complete a meme.

1. Where were you 10 years ago?
Um - hmmm, June 1998. Honestly, I am not sure. Either Pittsburgh or New Alexandria. I could have answered the five years ago question much easier, I was settled down five years ago, not so much ten. :)

2. Five items on your to-do list today
Today is almost done for me, since it's nearly 8:15 pm, but here's my list of what I wanted to accomplish:
1) Wrap Jacob's gift
2) Get Nora and I ready for party.
3) Go to party
4) Finish up Father's Day gift (not done yet!)
5)Wrap up said gift (obviously, if I'm not done, it's not done).

3. Snacks I enjoy

Dear goodness, I'm pregnant, I enjoy them all - or at least most of them.

4. What would you do if you were a billionaire?

Pay off debt. Help out friends and family who could use it. Travel, a lot. :) Invest so that the money would keep working for us, instead of us working for it.

5. Places I would live
I'm fine living in this general vicinity. I would like to live in a nicer neighborhood though - one with sidewalks would be nice.

6. 5 Bloggers I’m passing the challenge onto

I don't believe that any other bloggers read my blog, so no one. LOL, I'd definitely need to post more in order for people to follow me. :)

A new purse

This is my new creation. I'm not incredibly happy with the straps - if I would have had enough of the red cord left, I'd have made them out of that and I think it would have really turned out well. Also, my inside stripes don't match up since I forgot to line them up before cutting. And then, I didn't have any extra material - oops.

I did do a few pockets for the inside. One cell phone size (as you'll see my cell in the picture) and two a bit larger - either for a larger size cell phone (one of those fancy ones) or for a wallet.
